(www.schelkino.my1.ru) Russians are organizing this music fest a third-year round on the Crimean peninsula. Stretched along the Azov Sea coastline, “The World Next Door” offers music, beach, sports and laid-back crowds.

The concept of a full-time party on the sand replicates that of the KaZantip, the Ukrainian mammoth electronic music gig in August. But there are differences.

“The World’s” music selection features pop, rock, alternative bands, you name it. This year’s line-up has Lumen, Animal JaZz, Sunsay, Stigmata, Luk, Jane Air and other popular bands from Russia and Ukraine. Huge in Eastern Europe, you may have never heard of them in the U.S. or Europe, but – as they say – music is known to cross borders.

Apart from musicians, young poets, artists, photographers, painters, and actors will seize the chance and share their work with the revelers. From windsurfing to frisbee, the sports scene will be vibrant. In the after hours, DJs will mix their sets to shake off the lazy beach mood. Those craving a quiet night may check out shorts and cartoons in the open-air cinema.

Accommodation ranges from the basics, starting with tents on the beach to bed and breakfasts nearby.
