"Taking into account the peculiarity of reforms and the fact that the president honestly said that these reforms would be unpopular, positive changes should be expected as early as the end of this year or the beginning of the next one, and they will become apparent within the next few years," the Regions Party’s press service cited Plotnikov as saying.

He also said that the tendency of a rise in the revenues of the consolidated budget is expected, and by the end of the year it will be a firm tendency.

"UAH 41.6 billion in tax payments were transferred to the consolidated budget in January-February 2011. This is 1.5 times more than in the same period of the previous year," the MP said.

According to him, this year the government plans to ensure there are additional revenues to the national budget. Revenues above the plan will be directed to the social needs of Ukrainians – an increase in salaries for teachers and medical personnel, grants for the payment of housing and utilities services, a growth in pension and social payments, Plotnikov added.
