The concentration of radionuclides escaping from the breakdown reactors of Japan's Fukushima-1 NPP in the air of Ukraine amounts to a fraction of permitted levels set by the Ukrainian Health Ministry.

"Low concentrations of iodium-131 and cesium 137 and 134 originating from escapes from Fukushima-1 have been registered," the Ukrainian Emergency Situations’ Ministry reported on Friday quoting the central geophysical observatory of the National Hydro-Meteorological Service.

"In the past few weeks the greatest concentrations were registered between March 29 and 31. Starting with March 31 we observe a significant decline in pollution until April 2 but then due to specific atmospheric circulation above Ukrainian territory on April 3 the concentration of radioisotopes somewhat increased but this increase was short-lived and lasted for one or two days after which pollution has been declining to this very moment. Monitoring continues," the ministry noted.
