Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has congratulated employees and veterans of the Ukrainian space industry on their professional holiday and the 50th anniversary of the first human spaceflight.
"I want to note with pride that our country is at the point of origin of the creation of rocketry and remains a state that has considerable human resources, and scientific and technological potential in the space industry," the head of state said in a congratulatory message posted on his official Web site on April 12.
Yanukovych noted that the perseverance, dedication and professionalism of scientists, designers, engineers, workers and servicemen evoked a sense of deep respect.
The president wished them to multiply the glorious traditions of Ukrainian rocket builders and introduce new space projects for the benefit of the state and the Ukrainian people.
