You're reading: NATO-Ukraine Commission to discuss priorities

The main issue on the agenda of a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission at the level of foreign ministers will be to discuss current priorities in the further development of bilateral relations, a Ukrainian diplomat has said.

"Such an approach will help discuss what happened during the period when events of such a level were not conducted. The importance of this meeting lies in this," Head of Ukraine’s Mission to NATO, Ambassador Ihor Dolhov, said in an interview with Ukrainian journalists ahead of the meeting, which will be held as part of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Berlin on April 15.

He noted that a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission at such a level would be held for the first time after the 2010 presidential elections in Ukraine.

The diplomat said that over this period, important decisions had been taken both in Ukraine and in the alliance.

"The presidential election resulted in a number of further important decisions, while the Lisbon summit triggered the internal transformation of NATO itself. Therefore, we have a very important and serious issue for the foreign ministers to discuss," Dolhov said.
