The Ukrainian government will soon confirm a priority action plan for 2011, which includes measures aimed at facilitating Ukraine's integration into the European Union and creating conditions for the functioning of a free trade zone with the EU.

Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister and Economic Development and Trade Minister Andriy Kliuyev reaffirmed at a meeting with EU Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs that Kyiv was committed to completing talks with the EU on an association agreement before the end of the year.

Kliuyev also thanked the European Commission for its contribution to the Chernobyl projects, as well as for its efforts aimed at raising money for the Shelter Fund and the Nuclear Safety Account Fund, the Ukrainian official’s press service has reported.

Kliuyev also said he hoped that in the near future experts would finish drafting a memorandum of understanding between the Ukrainian government and the European Commission to implement a program of cooperation in nuclear safety and physical protection.
