The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office has set up a working group to analyze the events that occurred in Lviv during the Victory Day celebration.

"Yes, such a working group has already been formed, and at this very hour its representatives should be heading to Lviv," Prosecutor General’s Office spokesman Yuriy Boichenko told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.

The working group consists of officials from the Interior Ministry and the Ukrainian Security Service and is coordinated by the Prosecutor General’s Office, he said.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych suggested that Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka set up such a working group to examine the May 9 events in Lviv and analyze them from a legal viewpoint.

Yanukovych ordered that the working group’s findings be followed by response measures in line with the law, of which the working group is supposed to report to him personally.

On May 9 nationalists seized a wreath from Russian diplomats on the way to the Hill of Glory in Lviv and crushed the wreath that Russian Consul General Oleg Astakhov was going to lay at a military cemetery.

Also, veterans and representatives from public organizations, who were present at the Hill of Glory, were attacked by nationalists who tried to disrupt the festivities.

Nationalists also clashed with police.
