Simferopol, May 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Crimea and Scotland are to develop cooperation in the tourism sphere, according to the Main Information Policy Department of the Council of Ministers of Crimea.

The cooperation deal was agreed during a meeting between Crimean Prime Minister Vasyl Dzharty and the UK Minister for Europe David Lidington in London on May 12.

"The British government thinks that relations between Ukraine and the EU should be actively developed, and due to this we’re paying a great deal of attention to the development of relations with Crimea. We welcome ties between Crimea and Scotland. Personally I will assist to development of these ties," Lidington said.

In turn Dzharty noted that both regions would benefit from experience exchange in the recreation sphere.

"We are absolutely ready to develop cooperation with Scotland," he said.

During the meeting, the Crimean premier told the UK minister that his visit to London was aimed at "presenting the autonomy as a priority territory for investments."

He said that after Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych practically defined Crimea as a territory for top-priority development, the autonomy became one of the most attractive regions of Ukraine for investors.

Dzharty promised that Crimea would ensure there were convenient conditions for the work of foreign investors: transparency and predictability in the local authorities’ policy, the supremacy of law, and the absence of corruption.

Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom Volodymyr Khandohiy was also present at the meeting.

Dzharty held a two-day visit to London and Brussels to propose economic potential and investment opportunities of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea to the leadership and businessmen of the United Kingdom and the EU.
