Every second Ukrainian considers the problem of sexual harassment in the workplace to be quite relevant, according to KyivWeekly.

However, during the years of independence only one court case was filed for sexual harassment in Ukraine, lawyer at the La Strada Ukraine International Women’s Rights Center Mariana Yevsyukova told Kyiv Weekly.

A public opinion poll conducted by La Strada Ukraine International Women’s Rights Center jointly with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology founds that that the level of understanding of the problem of sexual harassment in Ukrainian society is “disastrously low,” she said .

While criticizing the state of the domestic legal framework in the fields, Mazur said people should not be ashamed of calling in to crisis centers and NGOs for professional legal and psychological assistance.
