Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a law on a procedure for the official use of replicas of Soviet Banner of Victory.

"The president confirmed his position presented during his visit of the Ukrainian medical and social center for Great Patriotic War veterans, signing on May 20, 2011 a law on amendments to the law on the immortalization of Victory during Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 regarding a procedure for the official use of replicas of Soviet Banner of Victory," the press service of the head of state reported on Saturday.

"The Ukrainian cabinet and Justice Ministry supported the signing of the law," reads the report.

As reported, on April 21, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine settled the issue of the use of replicas of the Banner of Victory on May 9 – Victory Day.

According to the law, the Banner of Victory can be hung beside the national flag of Ukraine. The law establishes the procedure for official use of the Banner of Victory.
