You're reading: Fidel Castro’s son coming to Kyiv to study Ukraine’s scientific potential

A son of former Cuban leader Fidel Castro and adviser for science of chairman of the State Council and the Council of Ministers of Cuba, Fidel (Fidelito) Castro Diaz-Balart, will visit Ukraine on May 25-29, Interfax-Ukraine learned at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Fidelito Castro comes in Kyiv at an invitation of President of the National Academy of Sciences Borys Paton.

The purpose of his visit is to study Ukraine’s experience in dealing with the affect of the Chornobyl accident on human health and the environment. In addition, he will visit a number of research centers and medical institutions in Ukraine.

During the visit, the Cuban official will meet with Ukrainian scientists, the leadership of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Utilities, the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Ukraine.
