Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said he supports the policy of European integration and will strive for Ukraine join the European Union.

"Our main priority is integration with the European Union. We are ready to sign an association agreement this year. We would like prospects for Ukraine’s joining the EU to be written into this agreement…" the head of Ukrainian state said in an interview with the Bloomberg agency in Kyiv on Tuesday, the president’s press service reported.

Commenting on Ukraine’s prospects of joining the Customs Union, President Yanukovych said: "We believe we can reach an agreement that would allow us to cooperate with the Customs Union to an extent that does not contradict Ukrainian legislation and our obligations to international organizations, in particular, the World Trade Organization."

In addition, the Ukrainian president said that Ukraine would continue its cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.
