Warsaw, May 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has called natural the assessment of democratic political processes in Ukraine by domestic experts and international community.

"I understand very well that the event that are now taking place in the country and outside it, I mean different evaluations given to Ukraine, are very natural because Ukraine is going through reforms," Yanukovych told reporters in Warsaw, Poland, on Friday.

There is "fierce resistance" in Ukraine both from the people carrying out the reforms and officials of different levels, who are "used to living the old way," he said. "For this reason, the path now taken by Ukraine will give rise to different discussions," the president said.

Yanukovych also said Ukraine will not justify itself in response to accusations of lack of democracy.

"We will not justify ourselves. We know that the processes that have begun, for example, in corruption, will make officials, including high-ranking ones, to answer for their actions for the first time in Ukraine," he said.

The president also said all decisions on whether specific people are guilty or not should be made by courts and "there should be no biased evaluations."
