Ukraine welcomes the high level of mutual understanding and political trust in its relations with China, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.
"We highly appreciate the achievements in relations between Ukraine and China, as well as the level of mutual understanding and political trust promoting the development of our relations," he said at a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Wang Zhaoguo.
Yanukovych said that Ukraine was looking forward to Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to the country, during which he will travel to Crimea and Kyiv.
"We hope that our talks, [our] personal contacts and the trust between us will promote the further development of bilateral relations," he said.
Yanukovych also expressed hope that an agreement between the Communist Party of China and the Regions Party would be the "foundation" for the further development of Ukrainian-Chinese relations.
Wang, on behalf of the Chinese leader, welcomed the Ukrainian president and the reforms that are being conducted in the country at his initiative.
"I am confident that under your leadership you will achieve greater goals in the near future," he said.
