You're reading: Kyiv’s Court of Appeals to consider Tymoshenko’s appeal

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister and Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko on June 8 at 2:30 p.m. will attend a meeting of Kyiv's Court of Appeals, which will consider a lawsuit filed by the ex-premier against a ruling by the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv declaring lawful the opening of a criminal case against her related to gas contracts.

The official Web site of Tymoshenko reported on June 7 that the former premier believes that actions by the Prosecutor General’s Office on her criminal prosecution are illegal.

On May 16, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv ruled that the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office lawfully opened a criminal case against the premier on the Ukrainian-Russian gas contracts. Tymoshenko and her defense lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko filed an appeal against this ruling.
