Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has ordered the Economic Development and Trade Ministry and the Infrastructure Ministry to develop Ukrainian initiatives as part of the Danube cooperation and draw up respective projects.

The prime minister’s spokesman, Vitaliy Lukyanenko, told reporters in Vienna on Wednesday that Azarov announced this at a meeting with Austrian Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Michael Spindelegger.

"Mykola Yanovych [Azarov] said at the meeting that Ukraine was ready to discuss concrete projects and ordered ministries and agencies, first and foremost, the infrastructure and economy ministries, to develop Ukrainian initiatives as part of the Danube cooperation and draw up respective projects," Lukyanenko said.

Spindelegger said at the meeting that it was necessary to implement concrete projects as part of the EU Danube Region Strategy as soon as possible. He said that in July 2011 it would be possible to draw up a package of such projects and start implementing them.
