Latest events in Islamic countries have changed preferences of European tourists, and now they show their interest in visiting Ukraine, according to Stokmann developing company CEO Serhiy Ovchynnikov.

"European tourists do not want to go to Islamic countries. Ukraine has three years to use the chance. There is a potential for its realization – Myrhorod, Truskavets, Shatski Lakes, Crimea, Odesa and other places," he said at the Raiffeisen Private Wealth Forum recently held in Kyiv.

Ovchynnikov said that not only large hotels, but also small 20-25 room hotels would be able to use this chance.

He said that apart from Kyiv, which is the leader on the property market in the country, Odesa, Lviv and Crimea also have good chances.

"In 7-10 years some Ukrainian regions could reach the level of Serbia and Montenegro," the expert said.

Yaroslava Chapko, Director General of Kyiv-based Knight Frank LLC Ukraine, also called on investors to invest in the recreation property. She took Bulgaria as example, which gradually has become a popular resort in Europe thanks to efforts of local investors.

Chapko said that it is necessary to invest not only in hotels, but also in infrastructure.
