Ukraine's Emergencies Ministry has cancelled trips to the Chornobyl exclusion zone through travel operators, the ministry's press service has reported.

The decision is related to the fact that the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine contested a ministry’s order that approved a procedure for visiting the exclusion zone.

The procedure defined the rules of visiting the Chornobyl zone, the routes for visitors, the time of staying in the zone, appearance, etc..

"The emergencies ministry considers its order to be legal as it was registered at the Justice Ministry and agreed with the number of interested power authorities, in particular, the Security Service, the Health Ministry, the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," the ministry said.

The final decision on the issue will be made by the court, whose ruling will be binding upon the parties to the dispute.
