Ukrainian First Vice Premier and Economic Development and Trade Minister Andriy Kliuyev has said that control over the harvesting campaign in Ukraine should be strengthened so to finish harvesting in optimal terms.

"I’m asking to strengthen control over bread harvesting," he said, opening a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

Kliuyev also ordered the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, Economic Development and Trade Ministry and local authorities to help farmers to receive credits for harvesting campaign, ensure supplies of fuel, lubricants and fertilizers. In addition, he obliged certain ministries and bodies to ensure optimal structure of fields this autumn, taking into account the needs of the market, permanent monitoring and revision of the balance of key foodstuff.

He also said that the state of crops has improved thanks to rains.

As reported, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry forecasts that Ukraine will harvest 45 million tonnes of grain this year against 39.3 million tonnes harvested in 2010.
