You're reading: About 1,000 people gather to support Yanukovych in downtown Kyiv

About 1,000 people are holding a rally on the European Square in Kyiv on Friday in support of the political course of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that the rally participants were holding flags of the Regions Party, the Village Party of Ukraine, as well as national flags and slogans reading "President, We Are with You," "Trust Today – Confidence Tomorrow," "The Openness of the Government – Democracy in the Country," "Anti-Corruption Legislation – Law Is One for All."

The rally is attended by Regions Party representatives from all regions in the country.

As reported, Yanukovych will give a press conference at the Ukrainian House on Friday. On July 9, the president will turn 61.
