A bus carrying Ukrainian children en route from Bulgaria to Ukraine overturned in Romania in the early hours of Monday, July 18, slightly injuring 14 people, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleksandr Dykusarov has told Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that apart from the driver, there were 42 people on the bus, all citizens of Ukraine, including 28 children.

The accident occurred at about 03.00 about 70 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, when the bus left the road and overturned.

Dykusarov said that Romanian police officers and medics quickly arrived at the scene of the accident.

"Fourteen people were admitted to hospital with minor injuries. After receiving the necessary medical assistance, they were discharged from hospital. No one was killed in the accident," he said.

He also said that the bus driver had informed his management in Ukraine about the accident and that another bus had departed from Kyiv to the Reni border crossing in Odesa region at 09.00 to pick up the passengers.
