There are no economic grounds for the growth in the prices of basic foodstuff in Ukraine, according to Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov.

"There are no economic grounds for the growth of the prices of bread, sugar, meat, milk, vegetables," he said, opening a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

He ordered Ukraine’s Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry to daily monitor the situation on the foodstuff market and prevent seasonal speculative fluctuations of the food prices.

The premier said that the government is planning to cheapen the price of food stuff storage in vegetable storage facilities.
