You're reading: Ukraine signs $140 million contact for supply of armored vehicles to Thailand

State-run company Ukrspecexport has signed a contract worth $140 million for the supply of an additional batch of 121 BTR-3E1 armored personnel carriers to the Royal Thai Army, the company told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday with reference to Director General of Ukroboronprom Concern Dmytro Salamatin.

In his words, the contract is a logical continuation of successful military technical cooperation between Ukraine and the Kingdom of Thailand and will provide Ukraine’s defense industrial enterprises with orders for several years.

According to sources, the contract is designed until 2015.

The first shipment under the contract is scheduled for 2012.

Experts note that the signed contract is the third largest in terms of military hardware export volumes and ranks among the top ten largest contracts in the history of Ukraine’s defense industry.
