You're reading: Foreign Ministry: Negotiations on Association Agreement with EU going smoothly

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has said that there are no complications in the negotiations on the Association Agreement and free trade area with the European Union.

"At the moment we do not see any complications or difficulties in our talks with the EU on the Association Agreement and the FTA. The negotiations are going well, as witnessed by the latest rounds in June and July. However, some political forces obviously intend to create problems, to bring in external pressure to settle their internal problems and protect their personal interests," the European Union department at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Vasyl Filipchuk, said in comments to Interfax-Ukraine.

Asked whether the trials against the opposition members in Ukraine might complicate the course of the talks on the Association Agreement, Filipchuk said he hoped they would not.
