You're reading: Some 26,600 draftees to join Ukrainian army in fall

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Yezhel has signed an instruction on conscription in October-November 2011, the media liaisons department of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine has reported.

According to the instruction, some 26,600 young men that were born in 1986-1993 without the right to deferment will be conscripted.

Of these, 20,000 people will join Ukraine’s Armed Forces, 5,500 draftees will join the Internal Troops of the Internal Ministry of Ukraine, and 1,100 more people will serve in the State Special Transport Service.

According to resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated Aug. 3, 2011, the expenditures on the fall 2011 conscription campaign will be Hr 1.7 million.
