Head of Lviv Regional State Administration Mykhailo Tsymbaliuk has said that the airport and the stadium in Lviv will be prepared for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship on time.

"The airport and the stadium will be ready on time. We plan to open our sports arena, which is designed for 34,000 spectators and is one of the most modern stadiums in Europe, in October. This is a unique Austrian project, and it will comply with all international standards," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

According to him, the stadium’s roof will be completed soon. Tsymbaliuk expressed the hope that by the time of the visit of UEFA President Michel Platini to Lviv, they will be able to demonstrate the first and the second level of the four-storied stadium’s facilities and complete the installation of seats in them.

"I’m sure we will be able to convince [the UEFA officials] with our work that Lviv arena can host a friendly match between Ukraine and Austria on November 15," Lviv region’s governor said.

Tsymbalyuk also praised the progress of work on Lviv airport, and in particular on its runway.

"On Aug. 24, we plan to transfer flights to the newly built runway. We are currently actively installing the warning lights, at the request of Turkish Airlines, we are mounting other special lighting equipment, which will allow some of the parameters of our airfield to be estimated from the sky, and we will complete the last part of the runway by December," he said.
