You're reading: Ukraine’s main promotional campaign for Euro 2012 starts

Ukraine's main promotional campaign ahead of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship started on Aug. 20, 2011 with the broadcasting of a video about the country's preparations for the tournament on the Euronews television channel.

Roman Kozhara, the head of the state-run Ukraine-World enterprise under the National Agency on Preparations for and Holding the Euro 2012 European Football Championship Finals in Ukraine and the Realization of Infrastructure Projects (Ukreuroinfraproject), told the Ukraine-2012 Information Center that the video about Euro 2012 is one of seven video stories from the Ukrainian Life series prepared for broadcast on Euronews and other well-known work TV channels.

"Although the Ukrainian Life stories are an element of the promotional campaign for Euro 2012, their broadcast is dedicated to the 20th Independence Day of Ukraine. The videos describe Ukrainian culture, history and heritage, Euro 2012, business and the lifestyle of Ukrainians," he said.

Kozhara added that each of the video stories lasts four minutes. All of them have been translated into eleven languages for broadcast by various versions of Euronews. It is planned that each of the seven videos will be broadcast ten times.

"The broadcast of these videos starts a new promo campaign of Ukraine before Euro 2012. It tells about the cities that would host the championship, their history, culture, sights, infrastructure and businesses. At the same time, these videos tell about Ukraine’s European integration prospects, as well as entertaining events in Ukraine such as the Kazantip festival," Kozhara said.

Other European TV channels will also broadcast the videos.

In November 2010 Ukraine presented a promotional video titled "Switch on Ukraine."

The BBC, Eurosport and Euronews broadcast it.
