Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has stated that the authorities of Ukraine are able to cope with any second wave of global economic crisis.

"I have to be honest: we will face difficult times in future. There remains the real threat of a second wave of world economic crisis. The government is working on a package of anti-crisis measures aimed at preventing financial instability and an industrial recession," the president said at the Ukraine Palace in Kyiv on Tuesday during events to mark the 20th Independence Day of Ukraine.

"But we won’t see such failures of the authorities as [we did] in 2008-2009. I’m sure we will cope with the new challenges and find a way [to ensure] stable, progressive development," President Yanukovych said.
