You're reading: Reforms for the Future faction to vote for pension reform after amendments

The leader of the Reforms for the Future parliamentary faction, Ihor Rybakov, has stated that his faction is ready to finish technical work on the law on pension reform in the first days of the ninth session of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, and put its first proposals to the vote on Sept. 6.

According to him, rejection of the pension reform would lead to the social and financial bankruptcy of Ukraine.

The leader of the faction added that the law on the pension reform has to take effect as soon as possible and "no games with protraction of the adoption of the law are impossible."

"The pension reform is one of the key [reforms], especially within context of the upcoming second wave of world economic crisis. Neither the government, nor experts deny that it [the wave of the crisis] would occur… The affect of the crisis on Ukraine depends on the government’s readiness and the parliament’s ability to quickly adopt and effectively implement the reform program," the politician said.

Rybakov added that he was "sure that we will cope with new challenges and we will be even stronger on the way to stable progressive development."

The politician described statements by "some political forces" about the need to delay or put off pension reform as "a simple attempt to fight for ratings and the sympathies of voters," Rybakov’s press service said.
