The process of the consolidation of schools in Ukraine is an objective one, and inevitable, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

"The process of the consolidation of schools, where necessary, is objective and inevitable, but this must be done with minimal disruption to people," he told journalists in Kyiv on Thursday.

Azarov said that the parents’ consent and the creation of proper conditions for schoolchildren were important in this process.

Before talking to journalists, the head of government inspected a school in Kyiv regarding its readiness for the upcoming academic year.

He said that the board of the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports would meet on August 26 regarding the readiness of schools for September 1. He also said he planned to attend the meeting.
