Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has ordered Minister of Education, Science and Sport Dmytro Tabachnyk to develop a system of measures to eliminate corruption and bribery at schools.

Speaking at a meeting of the Education Ministry in Kyiv on Friday, Azarov said that bribery and corruption are serious problems at schools, according to public opinion polls.

"If our children face this from an early age, what we can expect in the future? Therefore, I order you, Dmytro Volodymyrovych [Tabachnyk], to develop a system of measures to minimize this negative trend," the prime minister said.

Azarov also noted the need to introduce energy-saving technologies in schools, as well as provide all schools with computers and Internet access.

In addition, the prime minister said that the implementation of the "school bus" program should be sped up in order for it to be fully completed by 2013.
