Vice Premier and Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov has participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Soniachny training center for football teams taking part in the Euro 2012 European Football Championship in Kharkiv.

The center was built by railway employees of the South Railway on the territory of South Railway children's camp.

The vice premier thanked the railway builders for "their wonderful gift for Euro 2012."

"I have no doubts that those who are studying in the railway universities will get a good job. The head of Ukrzaliznytsia promises a good salary similar to [the salary] of professional football players," Kolesnikov joked addressing to people who gathered at the stadium, including a lot of students from the Academy of Railway Transport.

In turn, Ukrzaliznytsia Director General Volodymyr Kozak promised that the railroad would honour all the commitments it made in terms of preparations for Euro 2012, including launching high-speed train services.

Soniachny training base consists of a stadium with a football field measuring 105x68 meters, which is equipped with the automatic water sprinklers, west and east stands, 4,924 seats, premises located under the stands, stadium support infrastructure, and accommodation for football players. A 300-space car park is situated between hotel and stadium.

"I think that Kharkiv's citizens will be pleasantly surprised when [they] find out that one of the best national football teams will live at this base," Kolesnikov told journalists after the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

He also noted that the football sports school for children and young people would be created at the centre after Euro 2012 is held.

The building of the training camp for the football teams taking part in Euro 2012 on the territory of the South Railway children's camp was stipulated by the state program of preparations for holding Euro 2012 in Ukraine.

Vice Premier and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov kicked the first symbolic goal into the nets of the new stadium, and Director of the UEFA Euro 2012 Championship in Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky kicked the second.
