Yalta – Deputy Prime Minister Borys Kolesnikov identified engineering, agriculture and tourism as having the largest development potential in Ukraine.

Speaking at 8th Annual Yalta Economic Strategy forum, Kolesnikov said that "all of the three sectors require significant investments in infrastructure."

He added that it is needed to focus on production localization in machine building. "We do not need to maintain Soviet militarized institutions," he added.

According to him, the growth potential in agriculture is related to the fact that the world’s population is growing faster than agricultural goods production. The Ukrainian potential in this sector is related to an inefficient use of land and backward agricultural technologies, said Kolesnikov.

He stressed that Ukraine could double grain harvest from 50 million tonnes a year and the land reform initiated by the president will facilitate this.
