Talks on the release of a group of Ukrainian citizens detained in Libya are continuing, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

"The situation currently remains unchanged. Our diplomats regularly visit [the group]," Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He said that the Libyan side promised that the situation would be resolved after the completion of a respective investigation.

"We expect that the formation of a new Libyan government will positively influence this process," Dykusarov said.

Around 20 Ukrainian citizens (civilian specialists who came to Libya to work in the country’s oil industry) were detained in Libya on Sept. 5.
