Strasbourg, Oct. 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The leadership of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has said it hopes that the articles under which Ukrainian ex-Premier Yulia Tymoshenko was charged will be decriminalized in Ukraine.

This was stated during a meeting of PACE representatives with Tymoshenko’s daughter Yevheniya Carr in Strasbourg, Carr said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

She said she had meetings with Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland and PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu, and all of the parliamentary groups (PACE includes five political groups).

"They very warmly welcomed me, which I did not expect. Both Thorbjorn Jagland and Mevlut Cavusoglu are interested in possible ways out of the situation. They hope the legislation will be amended. Mister Cavusoglu even said he was sure the vote would be positive," Carr said.

According to her, the meetings with all parliamentary groups were held in the same atmosphere. She also said that she delivered a speech and answered questions regarding the trial on Tymoshenko and the conditions in which she is being detained.

When asked about a possibility of her participation in the political life of Ukraine, Carr said she had no such plans.

"I have been besides my mother for many years, and this has become a part of my life. But I don’t have the type of character to be an outstanding politician, one needs to have at some of her willpower to be able to change something. But I will always be there for her," the ex-premier’s daughter said.
