Dnipropetrovsk – Lawmakers of Dnipropetrovsk city council have decided to create Dnipropetrovsk Metropoliten municipal company and transfer to it the balance sheet of the subway.

First Deputy Head of City Mayor, Anatoly Krupsky, said that the municipal ownership form of Dnipropetrovsk subway is a condition of cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

"Today we’re considering the issue of crediting the construction of the subway via the EBRD. One of the conditions the bank has is municipal ownership of the subway," he said.

Krupsky said that the transfer of the subway would not only allow financing from the EBRD to be obtained, but would also give the city control of a powerful enterprise.

He said that Dnipropetrovsk subway was continually obtains subsidies from the city budget.

Earlier Vice Premier and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov promised that Dnipropetrovsk subway would obtain state guarantees on a loan from the EBRD.
