You're reading: Kuzhel leaves Strong Ukraine, creates new civil movement

Oleksandra Kuzhel has resigned from the post of deputy head of the Strong Ukraine party and announced the creation of a new civil project.

"Please accept my resignation today," she said speaking to the delegates of the second congress of the Strong Ukraine party in Kyiv on Saturday.

Kuzhel said that she does not agree with the Strong Ukraine’s merger with the Party of Regions.

The politician said that she had always been engaged in creating a middle class in Ukraine.

"I cannot join the team, which is destroying this class," she said.

At the same time, Kuzhel said that she was not planning to stop her social and political activities and intended to create a newer civic movement. "I will create a civil project… there will be no leaders, the people will be its leader," she added.

According to her, they have already adopted a charter of this movement, all the political forces can join it.
