Ukraine has provided humanitarian aid to Libya, Foreign Affairs Spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov has reported.

"An An-32 aircraft of the Emergencies Ministry of Ukraine, which provided the Ukrainian humanitarian aid, landed in Libyan capital Tripoli on October 19. The same aircraft brought a group of Ukrainian physicians who will provide aid to Libyan citizens caught up in the armed conflict," he said at the briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

As the spokesman said, on the same day an An-32 departed for Ukraine with 11 injured Libyans on board, who are to be treated in Ukrainian hospitals.

Special representative of Ukraine for Middle East and Africa Yevhen Mykytenko arrived in Libya, where he held a meeting with representatives of the new Libyan authorities. The Foreign Ministry hopes that a new government will be formed in Libya as soon as possible, Dykusarov said.

Moreover, Mykytenko visited Ukrainian citizens who are under house arrest in Libya. According to Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, 22 Ukrainians are being held.

As the spokesman said, the Ukrainians under house arrest are being held under acceptable conditions. They live two men to each room, are provided with a hot water supply, heating, conditioning, a fitness room and a TV set. They are also able to go for walks.

As Dykusarov reported, these citizens have been provided with clothes bought by the Foreign Ministry, medicine, personal-hygiene products, books and chess sets. What is more, they are able to communicate with their relatives by mobile phone.
