About 300 Chornobyl cleanup workers from various regions in Ukraine are holding a rally outside the building of the Cabinet of Ministers.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that the protesters had gathered near the government to support the holding of talks between the authorities and Chornobyl cleanup workers.

They believe that the parliament should pass a bill setting the pensions of Chornobyl cleanup workers at Hr 6,000-10,000.

Some protesters are holding the flags of the Radical Party led by MP Oleh Liashko.

At the same time, President of Ukrainian NGO Chornobyl Union of Ukraine Yuriy Andreyev, who was present at the rally, said that his organization had nothing to do with the rally.

He said that he considered it inappropriate to demand that the authorities pay pensions under court rulings at Hr 30,000.
