Ukraine is ready for initialing of an association agreement with the European Union, but when this will be done is a technical matter, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Kostiantyn Hryschenko has said.

"Initialing is a technical procedure, we have finished the negotiations and agreed on all the principal parameters of this agreement, but the issue of when this will be done is a technical matter," Hryschenko said late on Friday on Inter TV channel.

"We have virtually settled everything, but we need to translate all the documents into every language of the EU, there are also legal procedures on both sides. We are ready for initialing, but it seems to us that the EU is not ready for this even technically," he added.

According to the minister, Ukraine and the EU are still searching for a compromise on the issue of including the provision that Ukraine will eventually get a membership of the EU into the agreement.

"We do not want to be in a situation when we’ll have to hold the talks on the integration into the EU for 60 years, we should clearly understand what we need to do to join the EU," he said.
