On Jan. 14, the Costa Concordia, a cruise ship that was carrying more than 4,200 people, ran aground near the island of Giglio off the coast of the Italian region of Tuscany and then sank.

Some 37 Ukrainians managed to escape from the sunken Costa Concordia.

According to the latest reports, eleven people are known to have died in the accident.

The Assol Seamen Relief Fund charitable organization was founded by the relatives of the crewmen of the Ariana vessel, who were held in captivity for 7.5 months.

When releasing their relatives, the mothers and wives of the crew decided to set up a seamen relief fund.
