President Viktor Yanukovych Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has sent birthday greetings to his French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy.

"I hope that France will continue to support Ukraine's policies of rapprochement with the European Union and to assist our country in holding social, economic and political reforms. I am convinced that the Ukrainian-French relations have great potential for fruitful development for the benefit of our peoples," Yanukovych's press service quoted the president's greetings.

The Ukrainian president recalled with fondness the meeting with his French counterpart in Paris in October 2010. Yanukovych wished Sarkozy good health, happiness, prosperity and success in his state activities.

Sarkozy turns 57 on January 28.
