Sixth reactor shut down at Zaporizhzhia for repairs

Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) disconnected its sixth reactor from the country's power grid at 2247 on January 27, for scheduled medium-term repairs, the NPP's press service reported on Saturday.

According to the press service, Zaporizhia NPP reactor six was shut down to repair a fault in its generator's water-cooling system. The reactor is to be put back on stream at midnight on January 28, 2012.

Radiation levels and the fire and environmental situations at Zaporizhia nuclear power plants are normal, the press service said.
