You're reading: Azarov orders ministers to personally communicate with reporters

Ukrainian government members have been instructed to personally speak with journalists in order to announce decisions taken by the government and strengthen systemic work with the media to explain to the public the purpose and content of social and economic reforms, the media liaisons office of the secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has reported.

"After a number of meetings between Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and media representatives, in particular, the chief editors of media outlets and bloggers, and given the proposal of an interagency working group under the Ukrainian president analyzing the state of observance of legislation on freedom of speech, the head of government ordered journalists covering the activities of the government to be provided with the most convenient and comfortable conditions of work," reads the statement.

According to the instruction, after government meetings on Wednesdays, all ministers should personally communicate with journalists.

The venue for interviews and comments on government activities is the hall near the press center of the government’s secretariat (6th floor in the House of Government).
