You're reading: Ukrainians’ appetite for protest at all-time high

Most Ukrainians predict that the appetite of their fellow citizens to take part in street rallies and other protests will increase this year, according to a nationwide survey of 1,013 Ukrainians conducted late last year by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.

Done as part of a global study coordinated by WIN-Gallup International, the survey found that Ukraine ranks 11th in the world in terms of its citizens’ readiness to take part in protests.

Traditionally, only a small fraction of Ukrainians who have expressed their readiness to take part in protests have actually done so. Nevertheless, findings suggest that citizens are becoming more impatient and dissatisfied with the political and economic situation in the country.
