You're reading: Yanukovych orders Tabachnyk, Bohatyriova preserve vocational schools

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed Ukrainian Education and Science, Youth and Sports Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk and Vice Premier and Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova to tackle as soon as possible the issue of preservation and development of vocational schools.

"The officials in the sphere of education, Education Minister Tabachnyk, and you, Raisa Bohatyriova… I’m asking you to consider proposals on the preservation of vocational schools in the near future. Organize meetings in the regions and take the proper decisions to preserve and develop the system of vocational schools," the president said in Poltava region on Feb. 16.

The president ordered this after Director of Kremenchuk Pedagogical School Ivan Halchenko said Poltava region needed Hr 125 million for the modernization of vocational schools.

Halchenko added that similar situation could be seen all over the country.
