There are two Ukrainians on board the Celina, a container ship that ran aground off the southwest coast of Norway on March, but the crew of the vessel is not in danger, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleksandr Dykusarov has said.

According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Norway, a gradual unloading of the container ship is now being conducted in order to attempt to refloat it.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Norway and the Consular Service Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry are overseeing the incident.

Earlier, the Sovfracht online maritime bulletin reported that the Celina, a container ship with a crew of Russians, Ukrainians and Filipinos on board, had run aground off the southwest coast of Norway, 270 kilometers from Bergen.

According to Norwegian media, all 14 crewmembers on board the container ship were unharmed. The Norwegian authorities do not rule out that if the weather begins to worsen in this area, the ship could sink.

"The Antigua-registered ship has 280,000 liters of oil and 67,000 liters of diesel on board. A leak hasn’t currently been confirmed, but there’s a film of oil on the water," the bulletin said.
