The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine expects that several hundred international observers will come to observe the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2012.

"Ukraine guarantees the maximum and broadest involvement of international observers in monitoring the parliamentary elections in 2012. This is not an empty statement, but the actual practice of the Ukrainian government, which is being realized," Director of the Information Department of the Foreign Ministry Oleh Voloshyn said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that Ukraine would send out official invitations to international observers soon, and expects that several hundred observers would respond to them.

Voloshyn also said that three groups of observers from the United States (around 20 people) would monitor the upcoming mayoral election in Obukhiv (Kyiv region), which is scheduled for March 18.
