Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn has said that there should be one official language in Ukraine and doubts that a second official language could be introduced in the country.

While answering questions from journalists at a meeting with the staff of the central district hospital in the town of Chervonoarmiysk (Zhytomyr region), the speaker noted the need to know the official language and stressed the importance of the comprehensive development of the Ukrainian language, particularly in science.

According to the press service of the Verkhovna Rada, Lytvyn said that local authorities should guarantee the realization of the cultural needs of representatives of all nationalities living in the region.
