You're reading: Yanukovych leaves for Seoul to attend nuclear security summit

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has left for Seoul (South Korea) to participate in a nuclear security summit, the presidential press service has reported.

During the summit, Yanukovych will inform the international community about the full implementation by Ukraine of its commitments to clear out by 2012 its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium, which the Ukrainian government assumed at the nuclear security summit in Washington in April 2010.

The summit in Seoul will be attended by presidents, prime ministers and senior officials from 53 countries, representatives of the United Nations, the European Union, the IAEA and Interpol.

During the visit, Yanukovych is to hold a number of bilateral meetings, including with the leadership of South Korea, the UN secretary general, the heads of delegations from other countries and international organizations, including the U.S. and the EU.
